What problem is the injection meant to solve?
Ask the contractor to mark the void area and describe how it was located. A price for resin alone says little about whether the work addresses the route that let soil escape.
- Which joints or drainage paths need investigation?
- Is the wall moving, and who evaluates that movement?
- What evidence would change the recommendation to structural repair or replacement?
Use the assessment checklist to separate observations from a proposed method.
Compare the scope, material and verification
Request the product name, application plan and written limits. Ask how the crew controls placement, protects utilities and water, and checks the result. The proposal should explain how unanticipated void volume changes the price.
Record what is included for joint treatment, relief drainage, soil restoration and cleanup. Do not assume a fill treatment replaces a failed anchor or panel.
- Retained soil
- Documented void, if confirmed
- Existing wall
- Canal water
The dashed arrow represents a possible soil-loss path that requires diagnosis. Preserve the drainage route specified by the designer. Conceptual section only: the cause, extent and suitable treatment must be established on site. Filling a void does not itself verify the wall’s structural condition.
Does a small access hole make the work exempt?
The size of the drilling hole does not settle the approval question. Send the proposed material, placement, location and repair description to the responsible office. DEP South supplies several shoreline authorization routes; the applicable route depends on the actual work.
For Collier parcels, start with the marine permit process. For City parcels, ask Building to review the repair scope and any related drainage changes. Keep the written response with the quote.
Know how the proposed injection will be checked
Have the proposal separate treatment of lost soil from repair of the structural wall. Ask which outcome is promised and what evidence will demonstrate it. A firm selling injection should be able to explain what it will not resolve and when it recommends another assessment or method.
| Scope item | What to request |
|---|---|
Before placement | Request a record of the affected area, suspected soil-loss path and wall findings supporting this method. |
During the work | Ask how material quantities and treatment locations are recorded, and how unexpected conditions or extra quantities are authorized. |
After placement | Ask what observations or measurements will be compared, which joints or drains were addressed, and what follow-up is included. |
Questions before you accept an injection proposal
- What confirms that the retained wall is suitable for this method?
- How will drainage continue to work afterward?
- Does the price cover all measured footage, or only selected injection points?
- What additional work is excluded?
- What is the written warranty, and what conditions void it?
Use your own quoted figure in the budget planner. A contractor’s quoted method and price should remain tied to this property.
